A question to WINERY MARKETING guys!

What is salt? – Salt is a mineral consisting primarily of sodium chloride (NaCl), a chemical compound belonging to the larger class of saltssalt in its natural form as a crystalline mineral is known as rock salt or halite. Salt is present in vast quantities in seawater, where it is the main mineral constituent.

That means that the overall majority of consumer salt comes form the sea, and is absolutely the same chemical composition, shape and color.

So, Salt is Salt!

Salt is generic. a commodity, like oranges or pork bellies.

So how would you sel your salt? what kind of a Unique Value Proposition will you tell your potential buyers?

What will you write on the packaging? or in your ads?

The reason I bring salt as a discussion subject in front of the people responsible for wine marketing is that most of the wine IS generic!

Salt makes the food salty (duh)

Wine makes people happy (or intoxicated?)

Right now the major UVP are general and consist of: country of origin, wine denomination, and the grapes used!

How do you demonstrate what is unique about your wine? or have you given up on finding it?
